I’m tired of waiting for the rain.

Day in and day out I look out my window

hoping to see not just a drizzle but a downpour.

I know I’m not the only one waiting for the rain

— honestly, I think we all are.

We’re waiting. wondering. Why hasn’t it rained?

No one likes this drought.

It feels like it’s been twenty years,

but we all know it’s been longer.

No one likes this drought.

We don’t want to watch life die.

So why are some of us just sitting idly by?

I’m so exhausted waiting for the rain.

So many work day in and day out to make the change.

But every day we wake up and it’s the same.

Reading news of student deaths

like these kids lives are just baseball stats.

When will reform finally set us free?

I’m so fucking exhausted waiting for the rain.

Are you?
