Another Day

Editor’s Note: The following poem was written by past Defiant staff writer Salomée Levy.

The sun fades away

The moon rises

The crickets chirp

With another day of pain away

With a pillow brought

Against my face

An ocean formed

With a question in mind

“When will I be happy again?”

And as they say,

Tomorrow is a new day

Full of opportunities

A new beginning

Yet it stays the same

Reiterated mistakes

Scars layering on top of each other

Creating open wounds so deep.

And when that sun rises

I ask myself “why”

Why repeat the same process

When I could vanish through it all.

And never worry again.
